J M Wilson Solicitors are seeking a Level 2 Immigration Accredited Caseworker to join an ever busy and expanding Immigration Department.

We have been the leading Solicitors in challenging the introduction of the English Language requirement for spouses, the controversial minimum income requirement and more recently, the unfair deport first and appeal letter later certification process applied to foreign prisoners.  We have been able to help those, who otherwise cannot afford to instruct solicitors, through Legal Aid and we are one of the few firms in the West Midlands to still hold such a contract.

Given the growing demand in the Legal Aid Immigration and asylum sector we are now looking to expand and welcome someone who wants to grow with us.

The applicant must be competent in conducting all tasks permitted under the Law Society Level 2/OISC Level 3 Accreditation.  They should have a wide experience in lodging Asylum and Human Rights claims and Appeals.  They should be able to work under pressure and be able to carry out research and instruct experts and Counsel.  Additionally they should also have a good knowledge and understanding of the changes to Immigration and Asylum Law and practice and the Tribunal Procedural Rules.

The ideal candidate should be familiar in working with multi-cultural communities and with vulnerable and destitute clients.

Salary will be competitive and dependent on experience.

    Job type: Full Time
