Miss Shakti Basi represented me on the great success of my case. From the day I came into your offices, during a Thursday “free-advice” session I left reassured. My case as difficult as it was, it took 3 months 12/107/13-12/09/13 and that was through Miss Basi’s efficiency . She gave me a list of items required to put my case together and all I can say is I thank God for leading my steps into your offices.

I will forever be grateful and will recommend you to anyone I come in contact with.

See you again in 28 months when I shall return for assistance to renew my stay. I have great confidence in your work.

    Regards,

    Ray

    Dear Jenny,

I cannot thank you enough for the advice, guidance and support you provided during my separation. You provided that personal touch that was required to a sensitive matter that involved children. You were friendly, approachable and available to assist whenever I required in helping to address issues.

As a father, I was apprehensive about my rights. Working with you, I was able to secure an outcome that was best for my children in terms of a child residence case, which meant they spend more time living with me.

Thank you so much for everything

    Dear Sanjeev,

On the 8th February 2012 I was summoned to attend a hearing at Bristol Magistrates Court as I had knowingly failed to fill in my census form that contravened the Census Act of 1920. At that hearing I represented myself and pleaded not guilty on two grounds, namely that on conscientious grounds-(the Governments contractor being Lockheed Martin GB) -one of the biggest arms dealers in the world and also a major surveillance company. At the court hearing were not interested in my reasons, saying they were not relevant and political! The trial was then set for the 31st May

I was very annoyed by their remarks, for I consider that I am a very responsible citizen and should be treated thus. Having been the Mayor of my Town on ten separate occasions. I am also a Quaker. However to make any headway with my case I realised I would need legal representation. A friend of mine knew a Barrister, Tony Muman, in Birmingham who took on Human Rights issues and I along with another Quaker meet up with him together with a solicitor, Mr Sharma, of J.M.Wilson. What struck me at that initial meeting was their complete dedication to our case. JM Wilsons seem that they wold go that extra mile, and I subsequently meet them on several occasions. The final meeting when between us we decided that a strongly worded letter should be addressed to a judge in Bristol, for from other similar cases across the Country magistrates were not taking on board the European Convention on Human Rights when considering their judgement.

I must admit that through the three months that the work lasted Mr Shama and his staff were readily handy to answer my questions and gave me re-assurance that was much needed at that point. Therefore I have no hesitation to recommend their services. If they didn’t know an answer to a question then they would find out!?

On the 13th April I received a letter from J.M. Wilson that they have had a “Notice of Discontinuance” from the Crown Prosecution Services-stating the is not enough evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction! A very different view than there initial stance!

As far as I am aware that only three, including my Quaker friend, out of 400 Census cases that have been dropped all the rest have been declared guilty. Obviously I was relieved but on the other hand I was disappointed that my legal team were not able to prove that I was not guilty in the High Court. I was confident that they could have prove that under Human right articles the whole of the Census operation was invalid. I still hold that view.
